Lifestyle Newborn Session in Fayetteville Home

One of the most significant advantages of an in-home newborn session is the ability to create a comfortable and intimate setting for both parents and baby. Bringing a newborn photographer into the familiar surroundings of your home adds a personal touch to the photoshoot experience. From the cozy nursery adorned with soft blankets and plush toys to the living room filled with natural light and warmth, every corner of your home becomes a canvas for capturing tender moments and genuine emotions.

During the Lane’s newborn session, I got to spend the morning with the cutest family. When I first got to their house, mom and dad were still trying to get JD, older brother, ready for the session. This gave me a little time to check out the different areas of the house and what was going to give us the best light. I love getting to find little gems in peoples’ homes and what’s important enough for them to display. It gives me a sense of who they are, and what rooms or items may be special enough to include in their photos.

The night before our session, JD had a semi rough night and wasn’t into having his picture taken. When I tell you I’ve seen it all, I mean I’ve seen it all. I have two kiddos, so I know grumpy kids, and I know how to roll with it! Dad put llama llama on behind me, and that gave JD enough of a comfort to settle into mom and dad and get some good cuddles in. Honestly, that’s all I want when I deliver newborn sessions to my client’s. I want to give them authentic and real moments to cherish. JD needed cuddles with his momma and that’s what we gave him. And honestly, those are some of my favorite pictures from our session. An in-home newborn session goes beyond capturing posed portraits; it's about documenting the authentic moments of parenthood – the tender gestures, loving glances, and heartfelt interactions between parents and their newborn baby.

Leah had decorated Ruby’s nursery to the nines and it seriously looked like out of a magazine. I was so excited to shoot in there, and we had the softest light coming through the windows. Magic. This gave the perfect backdrop to some of the sweetest images of mom and dad holding her in her very own bedroom. You could tell everything was picked out special for this precious baby girl and that gave the session even more sentimentality.

For the Lane’s newborn portraits, we decided to use their master bedroom, Ruby’s nursery, and then I chose the dining room because the light in their was perfect. It might seem weird to choose a dining room for a photoshoot location, but honestly, it was decorated with neutrals and had great textured wall paper, so it just worked for their session.

I’m happy to say, as soon as JD had some cuddles and we got our whole family pictures, he got to take a load off and get a snack. Grandma was there to help, which was amazing, and he got uninterrupted llama llama time and time to run around outside in the sunshine. When I have older siblings involved in newborn sessions, I always like to get all of the images with them done and out of the way, because they tend to lose interest pretty quickly. I feel like parent’s are always stressed about their first baby and keeping him or her happy and involved, but I want you to know, even if they aren’t happy (like JD started the session as) we roll with it and pivot as needed. I will get you those shots you’ve been dreaming of and we’ll give you amazing memories to hold onto. I promise.

For parents considering an in-home newborn session, here are some tips to ensure a successful and memorable experience:

  1. Choose a Comfortable Setting: Select a room in your home that receives ample natural light and offers a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere for both parents and baby. I can help with this, so please don’t stress. I’ll ask if you have any ideas or rooms you’d love to use, but otherwise, I can find little areas around your home that will work perfectly!

  2. Coordinate Outfits and Props: Coordinate outfits and props that complement the aesthetic of your home and reflect your personal style. Soft, neutral colors and natural fabrics often work well for newborn photography. I bring all the props/outfits/swaddles we’ll need to you, so don’t worry about a thing! I love building inspiration boards for my client’s because then you can see how different colors and outfits will work together.

  3. Communicate with Your Photographer: Communicate your preferences, ideas, and any special requests with me ahead of time so I can capture the moments that matter most to you. I always send a questionnaire before you session, but if there is something you’ve been thinking of or have an idea, be sure to send it over. I want your session to be exactly as you’ve envisioned it.

  4. Relax and Enjoy the Moment: Above all, relax, enjoy the moment, and cherish the precious time spent with your newborn baby and family. The love and joy shared during the photo session will shine through in the final images, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
