Lifestyle Newborn Session | Syracuse Newborn Photography

I got to meet the sweetest little one the other week, and I’m so excited to share her session on the blog! I’ve known Megan and Steve since college, so to meet their little one was beyond a dream! This family has had so many exciting moments this year, and I’m so incredibly grateful I’ve gotten to be a part of their lives and document these moments.

Olivia Mae (first of all, her name is the cutest thing I’ve ever heard), rocked her session and her big brother was just as amazing. He literally loved getting to hold her and was always so careful. There’s been many times older siblings forget their holding their newest addition but Cam was a pro. He’s been waiting a while to meet Olivia and you can see the love shining out of him. Our newborn session took place in their home, so it helped everyone feel super comfortable being in their own environment. Can was able to take little breaks and have a snack while we focused on Olivia’s newborn photos, and then he even got to show off his new big boy bed. I feel like it’s so important to make the older siblings feel just as important as the new baby during newborn pictures and family photos. New babies will always need the most attention, but those older siblings are usually still just little babies themselves. Megan and Steve did such an amazing job balancing those needs!

I think one of my favorite parts of newborn photos are watching and documenting the love and absolute happiness that brings a family together. You are quite literally obsessed with this newest addition when you get to bring them home, and from a mother’s perspective, watching your husband and then older children connect and fall in love with the new family member is magical through and through.

I love lifestyle sessions because I feel like it takes the stress off of parents a little bit. I bring everything from wraps and headbands to a heater so your newest little never gets cold, and I let you sit back and relax while loving on your babe. During our consultation call, I always assure you I have it all handled and answer any question you may have (and probably some you didn’t even think of), so that you feel completely relaxed and ready for this fun session. So that’s exactly what we did! We let Cam get through his photos first in case he found something more pressing to occupy his time and then we focused on Miss Olivia.

With every newborn photography session, I always get all of the family combinations possible. We covered the whole family, older siblings with baby, mom and kids, dad and kids, and then the new baby by themselves. I want to get all of those newborn features that never last long enough but you never want to forget. So I make sure to photograph how small baby is in dad’s hands, their own little feet and hands, baby bubbles and big yawns. It doesn’t get better than seeing these amazing little moments over and over again.
