Studio maternity photos in Syracuse, NY
I first met Mihika one evening she came to the studio when she got off work for the day. We had planned to do her maternity session that weekend because her husband would be in town. Once she got to the studio, we started trying on dresses she may have wanted for the session. Mihika came to me having an inspiration picture of wearing white while her husband wore a white shirt as well; so I pulled all of my white dresses and she found one that make her LIGHT up! As soon as she looked into the mirror, you could tell she felt confident and lovely in the maternity, the cut, and that dress made her feel beautiful. Obviously we added that to the YES pile.
From their wedding, they didn’t have any photos of them kissing, so we wanted to make this session very personal and add a touch of romance. I made sure we got lots of variations of them embracing and kissing and also connecting with her belly. Afterall, during a maternity session the belly is the start of the show! After discussing all of this with her at that first consultation, I pulled a navy dress that showed her belly and had a train. That way, she could really embrace that closeness and romantic feeling during the entire session.
Our original plan was to have some outdoor images, with lots of that wheat color and tall grasses. She didn’t really HAVE to have that fall color, but she had a lot of inspiration pictures that neutrals and wide open landscapes. I was so excited to start scouting locations around the Syracuse area that would give me that but still pretty close to the studio so we could have some indoor photos in their gallery. The only problem with that plan, is daylight savings time happened when we had to push their session back a couple weeks. Mihika didn’t think she looked pregnant enough and wanted to wait on our session, but that meant the weather changed and the sun set earlier. That meant we weren’t able to start at our original time and she was going to have to see if she could get out of work early. Thankfully it all worked out and we were able to pop down to Franklin Square in Syracuse to get some gorgeous outdoor images and then head to the studio to get exactly what they wanted.
I couldn’t have been more excited to work on their maternity session. From the beginning, working with Himal and Mihika were a dream and so stinking cute together. You could feel the love and excitement every time we talked about baby and their growing family.
The first maternity session in the new studio in downtown Syracuse was a success and I can’t wait to welcome all of you to view it and start planning your dream photography sessions.
